Depart from Marrakech in the morning to head to the beautiful city of Essaouira on the Atlantic coast. Once you arrive in the port city, formerly known as Mogador, you will have time to appreciate the charming sights of Essaouira.

Take photos of the ochre-colored walls, the beautiful and vibrant Moulay El Hassan square, the bustling souks, and the narrow streets of the old medina.

Enjoy a fresh fish lunch at a local restaurant. During your journey, you will also visit a Berber women’s cooperative producing Argan oil, explore local markets, and marvel at the precious stones in the jewelers’ quarter.

  • Stop 2: Le Val d’Argan, Ounagha, Morocco:

    • Visit a Berber women’s cooperative producing Argan oil to learn more about this magical product and its benefits.
    • Duration: 30 minutes

Arrival in Essaouira

  • Midday:
    • Arrive in Essaouira and enjoy a free walk in this small seaside town with the most fascinating landscapes on the Atlantic coast. Discover the vibrant atmosphere where famous series like « Game of Thrones » have been filmed.
    • Duration: 6 hours

Explore Essaouira

  • Fish Market:
    • Discover the straight streets designed by the French, visit the port with bronze cannons, walk through the medina and souks, and discover the cedar woodworking workshops.
    • Take time to enjoy the charming sights, including ochre-colored walls and Moulay El Hassan square.
    • Duration: 1 hour

Lunch

  • Enjoy a fresh seafood lunch at a local restaurant by the sea.

Return to Marrakech

  • Afternoon:

Known as Imazighen ("free people") in their own language, these indigenous inhabitants maintain vibrant customs despite the village's growing tourism industry.

Winters in the High Atlas can be harsh. Snow blankets the higher peaks, turning the area into a winter wonderland that attracts skiers and mountaineers. Temperatures can plummet below freezing, and snowfall is frequent, particularly from December to February.

Ourika Valley - Morocco Holiday Destination

Situated at around 1,200-1,500 metres the Ourika Valley offers a pretty escape from the summer heat of Marrakech or an area for gentle hiking, and is also popular with artists.

Ourika Valley is a valley in the Moroccan High Atlas along the Ourika River. It is located around 30 km from Marrakech, and is essentially populated by Berber people speaking Shilha.

Wear comfortable walking shoes and lightweight clothing for the guided trek through Ourika Valley's terraced fields, plus a hat and sunscreen for the Atlas Mountains' sun. A waterproof jacket is handy near the waterfalls, ensuring comfort on this Marrakech day trip.
