Day 1

Time : 7:00 am

Marrakech to Todra Gorge via Kasbah Ait Benhaddou

 

  • Departure: 7:00 AM from your hotel in Marrakech.
  • Drive: Through the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi-n-Tichka pass.
  • Stops:
    • Kasbah Ait Benhaddou: Explore the UNESCO World Heritage site and famous film location.
    • Ouarzazate: Quick visit and continue to Skoura oasis.
    • Boumalne Dades: Arrive in the evening and check into your hotel.
  • Accommodation: Kasbah Stay.
  • Meals: Lunch & Dinner.

Day 2

Todra Gorge to Merzouga Desert Camp

 

  • Morning: Breakfast at the hotel in Boumalne Dades.
  • Drive: Along the Route of 1001 Kasbahs to the oasis of Tighir, then to the Todra Gorge.
  • Stops:
    • Todra Gorge: Walk in the oasis and explore the massive cliffs.
    • Rissani: Famous for its date market and starting point for ancient trade caravans.
    • Merzouga: Arrive at the lodge by the dunes.
  • Activities:
    • Camel Trek: Ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset.
    • Evening: Moroccan dinner under the stars, Berber music and drums.
  • Accommodation: Private Standard Tent.
  • Meals: Dinner.

Day 3

Merzouga to Marrakech via Ouarzazate

 

  • Early Morning: Camel trek at sunrise.
  • Return: Breakfast and optional swim at the lodge.
  • Drive: Back to Marrakech, passing through Ouarzazate.
  • Stops:
    • Ouarzazate: Quick visit and lunch.
  • Arrival: Return to your hotel or Djemaa El Fna square around 8:00 PM.
  • Meals: Breakfast.
  • Activities: Dune surfing.

At the cultural core of Imlil Morocco lies the rich heritage of the Berber people, whose traditions have shaped this mountain community for centuries. Known as Imazighen ("free people") in their own language, these indigenous inhabitants maintain vibrant customs despite the village's growing tourism industry.

Winters in the High Atlas can be harsh. Snow blankets the higher peaks, turning the area into a winter wonderland that attracts skiers and mountaineers. Temperatures can plummet below freezing, and snowfall is frequent, particularly from December to February.

Ourika Valley - Morocco Holiday Destination

Situated at around 1,200-1,500 metres the Ourika Valley offers a pretty escape from the summer heat of Marrakech or an area for gentle hiking, and is also popular with artists.

Ourika Valley is a valley in the Moroccan High Atlas along the Ourika River. It is located around 30 km from Marrakech, and is essentially populated by Berber people speaking Shilha.

Wear comfortable walking shoes and lightweight clothing for the guided trek through Ourika Valley's terraced fields, plus a hat and sunscreen for the Atlas Mountains' sun. A waterproof jacket is handy near the waterfalls, ensuring comfort on this Marrakech day trip.
